Unico System provides comfortable work environment for NHS Ambulance Control Centre
Three Unico Systems have recently been installed at the South East Coast Ambulance Control Centre in Lewes for the NHS. The old existing HVAC systems failed to remove stale air, bring in enough fresh air and provide a comfortable working environment. The Unico Systems were chosen for their flexibility in positioning of the outlets in between workstations to avoid drafts and hot or cold spots and for their quiet operation.
The Unico Systems were connected to Mitsubishi Electric outdoor units and provide full heating through winter and cooling in summer. Each Unico System also incorporated heat recovery which saves costs and energy by pre-heating the fresh incoming air with heat from the stale air that is extracted from the building. The fully automated control system allows the units to ramp up the air flow when actively heating or cooling and slows the unit down to match the fresh air requirement once the room temperature has been reached.
Head of Estates, Andrew Hanney, is extremely happy with how comfortable staff are in this high pressure environment and how fresh it feels with the heat recovery systems integrated into the design.
Mark Jacobs of AC Mechanical who carried out the installation, was really impressed with how easy it was to install the systems in the very limited ceiling voids and how quick it was to use the pre-insulated ductwork system.
